TITTLE: The function of RNA metabolism and modification in plant development and stress response
ABSTRACT:
RNA metabolism and RNA modification are two important post-transcriptional regulation pathways, which play critical role in plant development and response to multiple environmental stresses. RNA metabolism precisely controls the RNA quality and quantity through RNA degradation pathways. Recent studies uncovered that messenger RNAs can be regulated with multiple modifications such as m6A, m1A and m5C, which affect the RNA life cycle and RNA translation by mediating mRNA secondary structure, mRNA transport and mRNA degradation. Yu lab focuses on plant RNA biology using cutting edge molecular and Omics technology. In this seminar, Xiang Yu will introduce two novel plant post-transcriptional regulation pathways: co-translational RNA decay and RNA NAD+ capping and explore their potential functions in plant development and stress response.
